Declaring tax credits and reductions

>

What is the difference between a tax reduction and a tax credit?

A tax reduction lowers the amount of tax you must pay, but cannot result in a refund. A tax credit, however, can either reduce your tax or result in a refund if the credit exceeds your tax liability. Tax credits are typically granted for specific expenses like dependent care, energy-efficient investments, or charitable giving.
